The internet world has been buzzing all week about a certain “Genie in a Bottle’s” spray tan mishap—and I don’t mean Barbara Eden.
Performing at the funeral for Etta James, Christina was photographed with a mysterious liquid trickling down her leg. There has been much speculation on the subject of just what it was, but sources close to her have stated it was spray tanning solution. They claim that the spray tan “melted off” due to the bright lights and sweat.
Ok, maybe, but only if the blonde bombshell didn’t give it time to develop. With her busy celebrity lifestyle, I am willing to bet that she was simply rushed and didn’t give the tan time to develop (6-8 hours). But, rest assured. Spray tans don’t just “melt off.”
These first 6-8 hours are crucial in the life of a spray tan. Most people know you need to avoid contact with water…but not many people know that includes sweat. Sweating during the development phase can lead to unfortunate streaking, something no one wants. In the event that you find your tan streaking or becoming patchy, reach for an at-home product like EnvyTan’s Lasting Envy: Spray Tan in a Can ($24)or Body Armor: Tan Extending Lotion ($26) to touch up any drips, drops or smudges.
The moral here? Always let your tan fully develop before belting it out at a big event…or anywhere there’s cameras.
Upon Reflection, it’s Obvious, that What a Girl Wants is a rockin’ spray tan. Who doesn’t love a little ’99 Christina?!
