Our EnvyTan Celebrity Kit is similar to a franchise, but way better since there are no fees of any kind!  Just use our products and our methods.  You would be one of our Local Celebrity Artists, representing our brand at a local level (a field associate under our name).  Check out our Celebrity: Envy Pro Kit for more information. 

 

FAQ #1:  So my business name is…?

You would be EnvyTan at ___(your location)___. 

Example:  EnvyTan at Miami Beach.

 

FAQ #2:  How is that different from a franchise? What does that mean? 

With a franchise, there is usually a monster fee in the beginning, as well as ginormous annual royalties.  Franchises must do things exactly the same, from specific phone greetings and matching paint colors on the wall to day-to-day business routines and pricing structures.  Yuck.

With the Celebrity, there are no franchise fees; this is a trust-based relationship, whereby you are essentially licensing the use of the EnvyTan name.   No instructions for salon set up.  No mandatory hours.  No robot-like phone messages.  You will still need to carry your own business/liability insurance; EnvyTan, Inc. would not responsible for your business operations.

Think of it this way:  Let’s pretend Old Navy sells Cinderella (a Disney character) pajamas.  Old Navy has licensed the use of the Cinderella character.  If someone has an allergic reaction to the pajamas, Disney is not responsible.*

As a Local Celebrity, you would be required to do things our way—like any EnvyTan technician. Do things our way and use our products.  Basically you would just do things the *right* way:  use nose filters, use sole patrols, wear our uniform, spray tan like we spray tan. 

 

FAQ #3:  What about marketing materials?

Once you understand the way the non-franchise Celebrity Kit works, the explanation of the marketing materials and webpage super simple.  It’s sort of a “pre-fab” set up.  All of the Celebrity materials do have our logo on them.  They are designed specifically for our Celebrities to use.  All you need to do is plug in your information!  The same is true for the website. 

For the website, you will receive a domain name and the 5 page website.  You will need to purchase website hosting, generally done annually ($35/year).  These are pre-determined pages that we will add your information to and will most likely include a page of Pre & Post Tan Information, Photo Gallery, Tips, Your Information, etc.  It’s very “plug and play”.  Should you decide to make changes, they will need to go through our web department, as you will not have access to do so on your side.  These changes can be made by purchasing High Maintenance: Website Maintenance Hours.  It’s best to make several changes at once, rather than purchase website maintenance every time you need to change something small.

Spray Tanning: Spray Day Bag

Your Spray Day Bag (SDB) is your insurance against any subpar technicians.  Let’s face it, we’ve all been to those sketchy salons where the employees are more concerned with what’s going on in “The Real World” rather than the real world, the same employees that still twirl their hair and smack their bubblegum, absent-mindedly dispensing half-directions and texting at the same time.

Frightening isn’t it!  But of course, you have a big event in the next 24 hours and can’t afford to cancel because this is the only time you can get the tan, not to mention the every salon in town in booked solid—apparently even this place!

Now, of course, because of your 12 second interaction with Miss Thing, you’re starting to worry—even though she may the best tanning technician in the western hemisphere!  Judging from your experience, you highly doubt the “certified tanning technician” degree on the wall…assuming the gum smacker is indeed Miss T. Ann Pro.

This is where your SDB will be your BFF.

Whether you are a technician on the side (who knows how to get the most out of a tan), frequent tanner, or concerned first timer, be sure to purchase some insurance against sketchy tans.  More importantly, take it when you travel.  Most people know the spray tanning hot spots in their local town...but what about in another city, state or *yikes* country!  Keep your cool and stay in control of your spray tan!

Confused?  Here’s what your Spray Day Bag should include (and why):

Security: Pre-Tan Barrier ($24)

Apply Security to dry areas of your skin like elbows, knees, ankles, feet and hands.  This will keep those areas from soaking up solution like a sponge—and keep you from looking like you’ve contracted the Oompa-Loompa Pox.

Hide Out: pH Balancing Spray ($22)

Prep your skin before every tan.  Get rid of that daily gunk and balance your skin’s pH levels in one step.  This is super important because sweat and body oils can have a huge impact on a tan (and can lead to orange results).

Client Disposables ($14-35)

Many upstanding salons/technicians provide disposable undergarments for your convenience.  Toss a few options in your bag in case they don’t.  Don’t ruin your pretty things.

Lip Balm

Swipe this across your lips (and eyebrows if you have fair hair).  This keeps the DHA from staining these areas. 

Hair Tie & Over It: Hair Cap ($15)

For your hair.  Tie it back.  Make sure it’s up and out of the way.  A disposable hair cap is your best option for keeping overspray out of your hair.  Again, many places have these, but it’s a good idea to have your own personal stash—especially if you are a regular tanner.

Sole Patrols: Protective Sole Shields ($35)

Use Sole Patrols to keep from slippin' and slidin' inside a spray tan tent or on slippery tile surfaces.  These bad boys adhere to your feet and have traction on the bottom.  Walk of the salon in them and drive home in them.  Don't give your pretty feet flip-flop lines.

Once you've found the perfect solution, don't chance another icky spray tan.  Purchase a sampler pack and BYOS...bring your own solution.  Hand the tech your solution and know what results you're getting.

Old/Black Towel

This is perfect to toss over your seat on the ride home.  Many solutions contain bronzer for immediate results.  Occasionally, this can rub off on tight clothes, etc.  Though it should have no bearing on the developed tan, you don’t want the bronzer to rub off onto the seats of your brand new car.

Right-click, delete.  Confirm delete?  Yep.  Don’t walk around smelling like a spray tan.  If your body has a reaction to DHA, have no fear.  Mist your skin with Disguised in as little as 1 hour after your tan.  Don’t worry; if you have this reaction, you’re not alone.

 

Keep these items handy.  In a plastic bag, Louis Vuitton, or just your favorite beat up backpack, you’ll feel much more at ease when Miss Thing comes in (20 minutes late) to apply your spray tan.

Technicians: Pesky Overspray

 

 

Good technicians know pesky overspray is irritating.  Great technicians know that client safety comes first.  Instruct your clients to wear nose filters (Nobody Knows) during every spray tan.  For your 9-5 exposure, make sure you take care of yourself too.  Grab a technician face mask (Face It) and get busy.

Don’t let overspray have its way with you.  Replace your filter as often as you need. 

For best results, make sure the filter you are using has a MERV rating of at least 8.  And you’re in luck because all of our Bouncers are M8!

Toss the old filter and snap in a Bouncer: Replacement Filter…super easy!  Keep Bouncers at your business for added security.  You never know when an old Bouncer will choke.

Keep your fan from working overtime.
